Step 1 : Cutting the parts
Head + neck, Cut in thin cardboard:
A - A stripe of 4.5cm by 5cm
B - A round of 2.5cm diameter
Hairstyle, Cut out in black paper:
C and D - A rectangle of 1.5cm by 2.5cm
E - A rectangle of 3.5cm by 2.5cm
F - A rectangle of 3cm by 6cm
Kimono, Cut out in Japanese paper:
G: A rectangle of 7.5cm by 9.5cm
H: A rectangle of 8.5cm by 9.5cm
I: A rectangle of 1.5cm by 5cm
Cut out in colored paper:
K: A rectangle of 10cm by 8.5cm
L and M: A rectangle of 2cm by 5cm
N: A rectangle of 3.5cm by 8cm
Step 2 : The collar of the kimono
Take the Japanese paper "I", fold it in half and then cross/glue around stripe "A".
Step 3 : The kimono
Take the Japanese paper "H", draw two lines at 1cm and 1.5cm from the edge, then fold a first time as in picture 2 and a second time forward and behind as in picture 3 and 4.
Take the colored paper "K", draw two lines at 1cm from the edge as in the photo, then fold over it.
Glue the Japanese paper "H" on the colored paper "K".
Step 4 : Assembling the Kimono
Turn over the kimono to be on the colored side, draw a line in the middle then paste the collar of the kimono (step 2).
Now you have to fold the corners of the colored paper to give shape to the kimono. Follow the example on the pictures below.
Step 5 : Kimono Belt
Take the colored paper "N", draw a line in the middle then fold the edges on the line, see photo.
Glue the belt around the kimono.
Step 6 : The hairstyle
You need black-colored papers and the thin round cardboard.
Begin by folding/gluing papers "C" and "D" on the round, then apply the paper "F" around the head, glue.
Then take the paper "E" that you fold in three lengthwise and then about 1cm from the edge in height. Glue behind the head, see photo.
Glue the head to the kimono.
Step 7 : Sleeves
Take the Japanese paper "G", draw a line at 1cm from the edge then fold a first time, and a second time at half, see photo.
Take the colored papers "L" and "M", fold it in half lengthwise and then fold it in half in the height. Insert the papers in the sleeves and then round the two corners at the bottom of the sleeves, see photo 4.
You can now glue the sleeves to the kimono, et voilà c'est fini.
